Chair Yoga

LIVE on Zoom

Chair Yoga is a gentle, accessible practice designed for anyone who wants the benefits of yoga without getting down on the floor. We use the chair to support balance, stability, and comfort while still exploring full-body movement, mindful stretching, and grounding breathwork.

This is authentic yoga — calming, strengthening, and deeply encouraging.

Real yoga. Real support. Fully adaptable.

Schedule

What happens in a Chair Yoga class?

I log on 15 minutes early to have conversations or to help people log on, if needed. Students get to know each other during this time (or some log on right before class)

  • We begin by settling into the chair and gently connecting to breath and sensation.

    From there, we move through:

    • joint-freeing movements

    • slow, mindful stretching from head to toe

    • seated variations of classic yoga poses (like the Warrior series)

    • the option to stand or remain seated for adaptable standing shapes

    • a relaxing seated cool down

    • a closing Savasana for rest and release

Everything can be adjusted to how your body feels that day.

Each class is 50-55 minutes long.

Below is a short example of the joint-freeing portion of the class. you may find other videos on this YouTube channel.

"Heidi is a wonderful instructor who has introduced me to Chair Yoga—a practice often mistaken for a simpler version of traditional yoga. In reality, it offers its own unique challenges. Heidi skillfully adapts movements while preserving the integrity and purpose of each asana and posture. She is highly attuned to the needs of her students, providing thoughtful modifications and alternatives to ensure a safe and fulfilling practice. Her calm, soothing voice and the steady, deliberate pace of her class create a supportive and enjoyable experience, which I deeply appreciate."
