Schedule

What happens in a Chair Yoga class?

  • First we center ourselves, drawing our awareness to our breath, bodies and the present moment.

  • The class proceeds to move our bodies from head to toe, moving our spine in all different directions. First we warm up and do joint freeing movements.

  • We practice seated modified yoga poses, such as the Warrior series (Virabhdrasana).

  • In the next part of class, students have an option to stand or stay seated as we continue to practice yoga poses.

  • The cool down and stretching continues in a seated position.

  • We end the class with Savasana, our pose of rest and release.

Each class is 55-60 minutes long.

Below is a short example of the joint-freeing portion of the class. you may find other videos on this YouTube channel.

"Heidi is a wonderful instructor who has introduced me to Chair Yoga—a practice often mistaken for a simpler version of traditional yoga. In reality, it offers its own unique challenges. Heidi skillfully adapts movements while preserving the integrity and purpose of each asana and posture. She is highly attuned to the needs of her students, providing thoughtful modifications and alternatives to ensure a safe and fulfilling practice. Her calm, soothing voice and the steady, deliberate pace of her class create a supportive and enjoyable experience, which I deeply appreciate."
